MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - - Freshman Sam Foster scored her first collegiate career goal but the Wilmington University women's lacrosse team fell on the road, 20-1, at Millersville on Monday afternoon at Chryst Field.

In their first road game of the season, the Wildcats (0-2) fell behind Millersville (2-0) early and couldn't recover. The Marauders jumped out to a 6-0 lead before taking a 9-1 lead into the halftime break. The home team then outscored the Wildcats, 11-0, in the second half to close out the game.

Foster tallied her first career mark with 9:17 left in the first half off a feed from La'Dae Boykin. The Marauders closed out the game scoring the final 14 goals of the game.

The Wildcats struggled to gain possession, being forced to play defense as the Marauders controlled more draws, 20-2, throughout the game. That led to 34 shots for Millersville, while freshman goalkeeper Maddie Hurm made six saves for the Wildcats.

The Wildcats caused five turnovers while the Marauders turned the ball over 19 times. The Wildcats also picked up 13 ground balls, 12 of which came in the first half.

Foster and Sara LeBrun led the team with two shots each, with each being put on goal. Foster also had a pair of ground balls in the game. Classmate Mikailla Spencer led the team with four caused turnovers. Boykin finished with an assist and a team high three ground balls.

After back-to-back games, the Wildcats have 10 days off before they play again. The Wildcats are in the midst of their four-game road trip, as they head to Shepherd on March 10 for a 4:00 p.m. opening draw.
