NEWARK, Del. - - The Wilmington University women's lacrosse team scored the final 11 goals of the game en route to a 17-2 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Felician on Wednesday night at the WU Athletics Complex.

The Wildcats (3-8, 3-2 CACC) were in control from the early going and led wire-to-wire for the conference victory. Felician (0-6, 0-4 CACC), in their inaugural season as a program, cut the deficit to 3-1 and 6-2 in the first half, but then couldn't find the back of the net the rest of the way.

The Wildcats gained possession from the opening draw, collecting more than the Golden Falcons, 14-7, for the game. That allowed the Wildcats to out shoot the visitors, 41-8, including 26-3 in the first half.

Back-to-back goals by Gabby Spalt put the Wildcats ahead, 3-0, before back-to-back goals from La'Dae Boykin put the home team ahead, 5-1. The Wildcats ended the first half by scoring the final four goals, getting contributions from Boykin, Alexis Olsen, Marisa Parker, and Sam Foster.

Wilmington goalkeeper Maddie Hurm came up with three saves in the second half to keep the Golden Falcons off the board, as the Wildcats outscored Felician, 7-0.

Spalt and Boykin led the Wildcats with five goals each while Spalt added two assists for a game high seven points. Boykin also dished out an assist for six points on the day. Olsen added a hat trick while adding an assist and Megan Card scored twice while also adding an assist.

Card also led the team with eight ground balls, seven draw controls, and four caused turnovers. Mikailla Spencer added six ground balls from her defensive position while Stephanie Jubb helped with four ground balls and two caused turnovers.

The Wildcats hit the road for their next CACC contest, as they head to Nyack on Saturday. The opening draw is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
