Mower Paces Rams to 22-4 CACC Victory over Wilmington Women’s Lacrosse

NEWARK, Del. - - Philadelphia proved why it was undefeated in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action on Tuesday afternoon as the Rams defeated the Wilmington University women's lacrosse team, 22-4, at the WU Athletics Complex.

The Rams moved to 6-0 on the season in the conference, staying atop the conference standings while the Wildcats fall to 3-10 overall and 3-4 in the CACC.

Philadelphia jumped out to a 7-0 score before the Wildcats were able to solve Ram goalkeeper Corrine Etter, getting a free position goal from leading scorer Sara LeBrun with 16:24 left in the first half.

Gabby Spalt gave the Wildcats their second goal of the afternoon with 18 seconds left in the first half, getting a feed from La'Dae Boykin to bring the score to 11-2. The Wildcats went into the break trailing 12-2, after the Rams were able to beat the clock with another goal.

The Rams came out of the break and scored the first nine goals of the second half, stretching their consecutive goal streak to 10 straight. Spalt and LeBrun added goals down the stretch to bring the final to 22-4.

Spalt and LeBrun scored two goals each for the Wildcats, while Spalt added an assist for a team high three points. Boykin chipped in with the only other assist for the Wildcats.

Liz Mower paced the Rams with eight goals and three assists for a game high 11 points. Laura Dunne added a hat trick for the visitors while Kat Avanzato led the team with four assists.

Wilmington netminder Maddie Hurm stopped a season high 14 shots while Etter recorded six saved for the Rams.

The Wildcats have one final home game this season, as they welcome Post to the WU Athletics Complex this coming Saturday. The team will honor its lone senior prior to the opening draw to celebrate Senior Day. The opening draw is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
