NEWARK, Del. - - The Wilmington University women's lacrosse team will showcase its talents to the home crowd at the WU Athletics Complex during eight games in 2017, highlighting the release of this season's schedule as announced by head coach Jackie Trainer.

Six nonconference games will set up the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference portion of the schedule, as the Wildcats will look to get back to the CACC Tournament following nine conference games to end the regular season.

The season starts with the home opener on February 25 against Shippensburg before the Wildcats go on their trip to Florida starting on Monday, February 27. Upon returning home to Delaware, the Wildcats head to Bloomsburg before hosting Alderson-Broaddus and Merrimack. Their final nonconference game is scheduled for March 18 at Queens (N.Y.).

The CACC portion of the schedule begins with a home match against Nyack on March 21. The team will travel to Post and Caldwell to round out the month of March.

April begins with another road contest at Dominican before the Wildcats return home for four of their final five games. They will host Chestnut Hill and Georgian Court before heading to Philadelphia on April 12. The regular season will come to a close with home games against Felician and Holy Family for Senior Day on April 22.

The goal is to be one of the top six teams in the CACC to advance to the CACC Tournament. The top two teams through the regular season earn a first-round bye while the third through sixth seeds will battle for two spots in the CACC Semifinals.

The CACC Semifinals and Championship will once again be hosted in Lakewood, N.J. on the campus of Georgian Court University. A champion will be crowned on Sunday, April 30.
