BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - - Bloomsburg overpowered the Wilmington University women's lacrosse team to an 18-1 nonconference victory on Thursday afternoon at Steph Pettit Stadium.

After eight days off for the Wildcats (1-3), they got off to a slow start on Thursday as the Huskies (2-0) came right out and scoring in the opening minute. They went on to score the game's first five goals before the Wildcat were able to strike.

But the Huskies answered with another goal streak of their own, going into the break scoring the final five goals of the half. They went into the halftime break leading 10-1.

The home team again jumped on top of the Wildcats quickly to start the second half, collecting the draw control and marching down the field. They eventually scored on a free position shot just 30 seconds into the half. Bloomsburg would go on to score all eight goals of the second half in leading to the 18-1 victory.

The Wildcats put 10 shots on goal but the Huskies netminder Angela DiPasquale came up with nine saves. Eight of the team's 15 shots came in the second half, but DiPasquale recorded four stops in the second half.

La'Dae Boykin scored the Wildcats' lone goal of the game while Zameria Jones led the team with four ground balls and three caused turnovers. Boykin also led the team with three draw controls. Maddie Hurm made 16 saves in goal for the Wildcats.

After three games on the road, the Wildcats return to the WU Athletics Complex on Saturday for another nonconference contest against Alderson-Broaddus. The opening draw is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
