Four Wildcats, Women’s Lacrosse Team Earns 2017 IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honors

NEWARK, Del. - - The Wilmington University women's lacrosse team was one of 63 NCAA Division II programs named an Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad for the 2016-17 academic year.

In addition to the team earning the academic award, the Wildcats placed four student-athletes on the 2017 IWLCA Zag Sports Division II Academic Honor Roll. In order to be eligible for the individual honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater. The Wildcats' Stephanie Jubb, Gabby Spalt, Nicole Strong, and Christina Ziegler were honored with the individual academic award.

In order to qualify for the team award, the women's lacrosse team must have posted a 3.0 or higher team GPA for the academic year. The Wildcats boasted a team GPA of 3.22 for the 2016-17 academic year.

The Wildcats are one of three teams in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference to earn the Academic Honor Squad award, and one of 63 across all of NCAA Division II. The IWLCA named 308 schools across all three NCAA divisions and the NAIA to the Academic Honor Squad.
