Kevin Day Named the New Wilmington Women’s Lacrosse Head Coach

NEWARK, Del. - - Wilmington University Director of Athletics Linda van Drie-Andrzjewski is pleased to announce the hiring of Kevin Day as the new head coach of the women's lacrosse program.

"I would like to thank the search committee and staff at Wilmington University for this incredible opportunity," Day said. "We are ready to get to work and make great strides forward as a team."

Day becomes the program's fourth head coach, following a six-year tenure by Jackie Trainer who resigned to take the head position at Kutztown University.

The new head coach joins the collegiate ranks after being a part of the South Eastern Girls Lacrosse Program in Fawn Grove, Pa., for the past nine years. He started coaching the club program nine years ago while also becoming the commissioner of the organization for the last six years.

Day also helped coach at Kennard Dale High School, leading the team to the 2017 PIAA 2A State Championship game. Since becoming an assistant at Kennard Dale in 2010, he's helped the program to five YAIAA Championships, three PIAA District 3 finals appearances, including the run to the State Final last spring.

He has also created and directed the Mason Dixon Girls' Lacrosse Camp, coached for the Looney's Lacrosse Club for nine seasons, and helped coach the Harford Lacrosse Summer Camp for the past 10 years.

Day has the opportunity to immediately put his touch on the program during the team's fall non-championship season. The Wildcats will begin competition in the spring.
