First Year Head Coach Kevin Day Announces Upcoming 2018 Women’s Lacrosse Schedule

NEWARK, Del. - - First year head coach Kevin Day has scheduled eight home games that highlight the 2018 season for the Wilmington University women's lacrosse program, as he has announced the upcoming campaign.

Day has 17 contests scheduled for the 2018 season, and will look to improve upon last years record of 7-10 overall, going 5-4 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference and earning the number six seed in the conference tournament.

Three of the Wildcats' first five games are at the WU Athletics Complex, including the season opener against Millersville on Saturday, February 24. The Wildcats will also head to St. Thomas Aquinas on Tuesday, February 27, starting the season with a pair of games in February.

March starts with another home game, as Bloomsburg comes to Newark for a nonconference on March 1. Two days later on March 3, the team head to Indiana (Pa.), and stays in the PSAC with another home game against East Stroudsburg on March 7.

The Wildcats take to the road for three straight, heading to Converse, Queens (N.Y.), and starts the CACC portion of their schedule at Chestnut Hill on March 21. Their first CACC home contest takes place on Saturday, March 24 against Post before they head to Holy Family on the 27th. March rounds out with the team's final nonconference game of the year, as they host West Virginia Wesleyan on the 31st.

April brings the ret of the CACC schedule, as the team starts with hosting Jefferson and Caldwell. Two road games follow at Georgian Court and at Nyack before the team returns home for their final regular season home game against Dominican on Wednesday, April 18. The regular season finale is scheduled for April 21 at Felician.

The Wildcats will again aim to be one of the top six teams in the CACC standings during the regular season. The top two teams in the conference receive first round byes in the CACC Tournament, with the quarterfinal games being held at the higher seed. The two winners will meet up with the top two seeds at Georgian Court for the CACC Tournament Semifinals on Saturday, April 29. A champion will be crowned on Sunday, April 29 in Lakewood, New Jersey.
