Jermaine Head and Lashay Ross Highlight Wilmington Student-Athletes on CACC Weekly Reports

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - In the thick of crossover season, the Wilmington University athletics department had two student-athletes named on this week's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Weekly Reports, Jermaine Head of men's basketball and Lashay Ross of women's lacrosse.

In the final report of the season, Head (Edgewood, Md.) was named the CACC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week for the second week in a row and fourth time this season. Ross (Hamilton, N.J.) was named the CACC Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week after the Wildcats opened their 2018 season on Saturday.

Head led the men's basketball team to a 1-1 record this week to close out the regular season. For the week, he averaged 25.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game, shooting at a 41.7 percent clip from the floor and 12-of-13 from the foul line.

The Wildcats broke through late at Georgian Court for the victory on Wednesday, as Head scored 28 points with six three-pointers, shooting 8-of-19 from the floor and a perfect 6-of-6 from the foul line. He added nine rebounds, seven assists, and two steals in the win. In the regular season finale against Goldey-Beacom, Head scored 23 points on 7-of-17 from the floor, hitting three three-pointers, and going 6-of-7 from the foul line. He also grabbed seven rebounds and dished out five assists to go with two steals in the close loss.

Ross led the Wildcats in their 2018 season opener against Millersville, tying for the team lead with five goals on the day. She scored the first goal of the 2018 season and gave the Wildcats a 5-4 lead with her third goal of the first half. She added two more goals in the second half to complete her five marks. She also led the way in the circle, scooping up 11 draw controls while also picking up two ground balls and adding a caused turnover.

Macy Robinson averaged 27.5 points per game for the women's basketball team last week to land a spot on the Weekly Honor Roll. She also scored her 1,000th career point in the team's regular season finale against Goldey-Beacom on Saturday.

The baseball team also opened its 2018 season, going 2-2 in four games in Myrtle Beach. Starting pitching Brad Scull struck out nine batters in seven innings in a win over LIU Post and Christian Adorno went 8-for-16 with two doubles, a triple, a homer, two RBI, and four runs scored to both land a spot on the Weekly Honor Roll.
