Georgian Court Starts Fast in 18-5 CACC Victory over Women’s Lacrosse

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - - Georgian Court scored the final 12 goals of the first half to cruise to an 18-5 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over the Wilmington University women's lacrosse team on Tuesday afternoon at the GCU Track & Field Complex.

The Wildcats (4-8, 2-3 CACC) led the game from the draw circle, controlling more starts than the Lions (8-6, 6-0 CACC), 17-8, but turned the ball over 21 times, 14 of which came in the first, half, giving the Lions extra possessions.

Tied at 1-1 early in the first half, the Lions rattled off 12 straight to end the half, taking a 13-1 lead into the halftime break. The streak continued with the first goal in the second half before the Wildcats finally broke up the run with a goal with 23:43 left in regulation.

The Wildcats scored three straight, getting goals from Taylor Lambeth, Lashay Ross, and La'Dae Boykin to get to within 14-4 with 16:10 showing on the clock, but the Lions answered with back-to-back goals to thwart any comeback thoughts. Boykin scored the final goal for the Wildcats before the Lions finished the game with back-to-back goals to close out the scoring.

Boykin led the Wildcats with two goals and an assist while Ross finished with two goals as well. Lambeth scored a goal and added an assist while Marisa Parker dished out one assist.

Boykin led the Wildcats with seven draws as well while Ross finished with six draw controls. Christina Ziegler helped with four draws and two ground balls.

The Lions were led by Arianna Quinlan's five goals and two assists for seven points while Samantha Fernandez scored four goals.

The Wildcats will look to snap their three-game losing streak when they return to action on Saturday at Nyack. The opening draw is set for 1:00 p.m.
