Eight Home Games, DI Exhibition Highlight 2019 Women’s Lacrosse as head coach Kevin Day Announces Campaign

NEWARK, Del. – After reaching the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament four the fourth consecutive season last year, the Wilmington University women's lacrosse team looks to take the next step in postseason play but it starts with 18 regular season contests, as head coach Kevin Day announces this spring's schedule.

In just his first season as head coach, Kevin Day led the Wildcats to a 7-10 overall record and a 5-4 CACC record giving them the fifth seed in the CACC Tournament, playing No. 4 seed Caldwell last year.

The Wildcats start the season off in an exhibition contest against Delaware State University on Sunday, February 10.  The regular season begins on Saturday, February 23, on the road against PSAC participant Shippensburg, with another PSAC opponent Millersville on February 27.

To begin the month of March, the women will be on the road again for three-consecutive games, including a matchup with Bloomsburg on March 1, Mars Hills University on March 4, and a non-conference contest against Newberry on Wednesday, March 6.

WilmU is set to have their home opener on Saturday, March 9, when Queens College comes to the WU Athletics Complex. The Wildcats will follow their home opener with two more home games against NYIT on March 16 and Shepherd University on March 19. The women will close out the month on the road when they begin CACC play at Jefferson on March 26 and Dominican on March 30.

The Wildcats begin April at home when they face Felician, Nyack, and Holy Family starting April 3. Wilmington will have two more home contests against CACC Champion Georgian Court and CACC Runner-Up Chestnut Hill before ending the regular season at Post University on Saturday, April 27.

The Wildcats will look to be one of the top six teams to again make it to the CACC Tournament starting Tuesday, April 30 at the higher seed. This year's CACC Championship will be held at Georgian Court from May 3-4 as part of the CACC Spring Festival.
