Bloomsburg Uses First Half Run to get Past Women’s Lacrosse

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - - A first half run led Bloomsburg past the Wilmington University women's lacrosse team, 20-6, in nonconference action at Steph Petit Stadium on Friday night.

Brooke Siebert tied the match with her first goal of the goal, 2-2, for the Wildcats (0-3), but the Huskies (2-0) rattled off 11 straight goals and took a 13-3 at the halftime break.

Bloomsburg scored the first three goals of the second half as well, taking a 16-3 lead before Brooke Siebert secured her hat trick with back-to-back goals for the Wildcats. But that is as close as the Wildcats could get, as the Huskies scored four straight, taking their largest lead of the game, 20-5, late in the game.

Maddie Day scored the final goal of the game, finalizing the score, 20-6.

Brooke Siebert scored her first collegiate career hat trick, leading the Wildcats with three goals while adding an assist for a season high four points.

Lashay Ross scored the first goal of the game just 33 seconds in while Delaney Steele scored the final goal of the first half. Steele also added an assist for two points on the day. Maddie Day scored the sixth goal for the Wildcats on Friday.

The Wildcats led the Huskies, 9-8, in draw controls in the first half, but trailed for the game, 15-12. Lashay Ross led the team with five draws while Maris Allen and Brooke Siebert added three draws. Ross also led the team with four caused turnovers.

Maddie Hurm made five saves in the first 43 minutes for the Wildcats while Tori Grubowski made one stop in the final 17 minutes.

The Wildcats take a trip to North Carolina for their next two contests, first playing at Mars Hill on Monday night. The opening draw is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
