NEWARK, Del. - - The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference leaders Georgian Court scored the first six goals of the second half to separate themselves from the Wilmington University women's lacrosse team, as the Wildcats fell, 21-11, on Wednesday afternoon at the WU Athletics Complex.

The Wildcats (8-7, 5-2 CACC) kept with the Lions (11-4, 7-0 CACC) in the first half, but couldn't keep momentum in the contest, as every Wildcat goal was answered by a Lions' mark in the first half. The Wildcats didn't score back-to-back goals in the game until the 10:44 mark of the second half.

Maddie Day scored the first goal of the game for the Wildcats in the fifth minute of play, tying the game at 1-1. The Wildcats' Brooke Siebert won one of her 10 draw controls to earn the ensuing possession, but the Wildcats couldn't capitalize to take the lead.

Taylor Lameth cut the deficit to 3-2 with her first goal of the game, but then the Lions rattled off four straight to open the lead out to 7-2 with 10:13 left in the half.

Delaney Steele broke the streak with a goal, but the Wildcats only traded goals with the Lions, getting to within 10-5. Lashay Ross scored the final goal of the half, but the Wildcats trailed going into the break, 12-6.

The Lions came out of the half and scored the first six goals, extending the lead out to 18-6 with 19:49 left in regulation. Maddie Day broke the spell with her second goal of the game, but the Lions answered again with two goals, opening the lead out to 20-7 with 14:35 to play.

The Wildcats finally scored back-to-back goals in the game, scoring three straight to get to within 20-10, but it was too little too late for the Wildcats. Lashay Ross scored followed by back-to-back goals from Brooke Siebert.

Siebert led the offense with three goals and an assist while Delaney Steele scored once and added five assists. Lashay Ross scored two goals to go with an assist while Taylor Lambeth and Maddie Day scored two goals each as well.

Brooke Siebert also led the team with 10 draw controls and five ground balls in the game. Maddie Hurm made 11 saves in 44 saves before Tori Grubowski made three saves.

Georgian Court's Nicole Barbella paced the Lions with two goals and 10 assists.

The Wildcats are back in action in six days, as they host Chestnut Hill for their final regular season home game on Tuesday afternoon at the WU Athletics Complex. The opening draw is set for 4:00 p.m.
