Women’s Lacrosse Ends Regular Season at Post with 23-10 Win; Play Chestnut Hill in CACC First Round

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Wilmington University women's lacrosse team defeated Post in their final regular season game, 23-10 at LaMoy Field on Saturday afternoon.

The Wildcats (10-7, 7-2 CACC) started out strong, scoring the first five goals of the game within the first five minutes of the contest. Brooke Siebert was the first to get on the board just 19 seconds into the game. Maris Allen would score back-to-back goals to give WilmU a 4-0 lead, before Delaney Steele made it a 5-0 lead with 25:48 to play in the first half.

The Eagles would get on the board with 23:28 to play, and would go on a 5-3 run to bring Wilmington's lead down to just two, making it 8-6 with 13 minutes left to play until the half. In the next 1:07, WilmU would score three goals, including two from Lashay Ross to help increase their lead to 11-6. The Wildcats would get four more goals to Post' two to take a 15-8 lead into halftime.

Freshman Maddie Day would start the scoring in the second half just 59 seconds in, before the Wildcats scored the next three goals within the next 10 minutes to make it a 19-8 game. The Eagles would net only two goals in the half, while WilmU finished out the game with the final three goals.

Lashay Ross lead the team with six goals on six shots and one assist. Maddie Day (one assist) and Brooke Siebert finished with four goals apiece. Maris Allen also had four goals and one assist, while leading the team in draw controls. Taylor Lambeth and Marisa Parker (one assist) both had one goal for the Wildcats.

Maddie Hurm made four goals in the net for the Wildcats.

Wilmington will play in the first round of the CACC Tournament on Tuesday at the WU Athletics Complex against No. 6 Chestnut Hill. Time of the game is still being determined.
