OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – Fourteen first half goals by No. 22 New York Tech would be enough as they defeated the Wilmington University women's lacrosse team, 16-7 in a nonconference matchup Thursday afternoon at Presidents Stadium.

The Bears (3-2) would get on the board in just the first 35 seconds of the game, after winning the opening draw control. Their quick start then led them to another goal off the draw control to put them up 2-0 with 28:20 to play in the first half. It wasn't until the 20:48 mark that New York Tech netted their third straight goal.

Off the goal, Wilmington (1-6) would gain possession off the draw control, before Delaney Steele found Maddie Day for the Wildcats first goal of the game to make it 3-1 with 20:09 to go. After the Wildcats goal, The Bears would regain their momentum to score 10 consecutive goals within a 13 minute span to increase their lead to 13-1 with 4:26 left until the half. With 2:24 to play, Delaney Steele would find Brooke Siebert this time for WilmU's second goal of the game.

The Wildcats would hold the Bears to just two goals in the second half, despite their five goal effort in the half. Brooke Siebert would net back-to-back goals courtesy of Delaney Steele to make it a 15-4 ballgame. Steele would then net her first goal of the game, before Taylor Lambeth scored two goals to make it a 16-7 contest.

Brooke Siebert led the Wildcats with three goals, seven ground balls, two caused turnovers, and three draw controls. Delaney Steele had one goal and four assists for five points. With her four assists in the game, Steele is now the all-time leader in career assists with 100, breaking Liz Case's record of 99 set back in 2013. She is also the lone Wildcat to hit the 100 mark.

Taylor Lambeth would net two goals, as Maddie Day had one goal. Jacqulyn Falkenstein grabbed four ground balls, while Tori Grubowski made 11 saves in the net.

The Wildcats are scheduled to travel to Nyack this Saturday at 12:00 p.m. for their first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
