Women’s Lacrosse Begins CACC Play with 24-3 Victory Over Chestnut Hill

LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. - - The Wilmington University women's lacrosse team began its trek through the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference schedule with a 24-3 victory over Chestnut Hill on Wednesday night at Victory Field.

The win snapped a two-game losing streak for the Wildcats (6-2, 1-0 CACC) after starting the year with five straight victories. The 21-goal difference ties the program record for margin of victory.

The Wildcats got off to a fast start, scoring 10 goals in the first quarter. The scoring continued into the second, as they led 17-0 at the halftime break. Chestnut Hill (1-5, 0-2 CACC) scored back-to-back goals in the third, but the Wildcats answered with the final two goals to lead 20-2 after the third quarter. The Wildcats won the fourth quarter as well, 4-1, to win the game, 24-3.

Taylor Lambeth led the Wildcats with 12 points, scoring three goals and dishing out nine assists. The 12 points are tied for second most in a single game in program history, behind only Delaney Steele's 13 from 2019. The nine assists are tied for third all-time as well, behind Delaney Steele who dished out 10 assists twice.

Campbell Heller led the team with eight goals, ranking tied for fourth all-time in a single game. La'Dae Boykin holds the record with 10 goals from 2018. The freshman also added an assist and five draw controls in the game.

Amelie Gamache scored five goals and added an assist, all while scooping up nine draw controls. Maddie Day scored three goals and added an assist while Ella Baynes and Riley McQuaide scored twice as well. Taylor Culver tied Gamache with a team high nine draws.

The Wildcats outshot the Griffins, 36-11, and earned more draws, 23-6.

After two road games, the Wildcats return home for their next contest, as they host Post on Saturday afternoon at the WU Athletics Complex. The opening draw is set for 1:00 p.m.
