Seniors Lead Women’s Lacrosse to 20-5 CACC Victory over Caldwell on Senior Day

NEWARK, Del. - - The 2022 Wilmington University women's lacrosse senior class led the Wildcats to a 20-5 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Caldwell on Saturday, capping Senior Day in fine fashion at the WU Athletics Complex.

Seniors Tori Grubowski, Juliana Kolakowski, and Taylor Lambeth were honored prior to the game, and the trio shined on the field during the game as well.

Taylor Lambeth dished out seven assists to not only become the second Wildcat student-athlete to record 100 career assists, but she surpassed Delaney Steele's career record of 100 career assists and take over the all-time program record, now with 102.

Juliana Kolakowski made her 24 straight starts on the defensive line and got in on the offensive attack on Saturday, scoring a goal and dishing out an assist in the win.

Tori Grubowski made point-blank save after point-blank save on Saturday, finishing with seven for the game and moving to 7-2 on the season, winning her 16th career game.

The Wildcats (9-4, 4-2 CACC) scored the first six goals of the game and led 10-1 after the first quarter. Campbell Heller scored four goals in the first quarter while Makenzie Stritzinger scored twice as well. Four of Lambeth's seven assists came in the first quarter.

The record assist came with 2:24 left in the second half, as Taylor Lambeth dished off a pass to Tristan Holdsworth to give the Wildcats a 14-1 lead at the halftime break.

Campbell Heller scored two more goals in the third quarter while Stritzinger and Ella Baynes added goals, moving the Wildcats ahead, 18-2, after the third.

Caldwell scored three straight goals in the fourth quarter, but then the Wildcats answered with the final two goals of the game to cap Senior Day. Makenzie Stritzinger put in an unassisted goal before Maddie Day got on the scorecard with a goal from Juliana Kolakowski to close out the score, 20-5.

Campbell Heller led with six goals while Makenzie Stritzinger scored five goals. Taylor Lambeth finished with two goals and seven assists while Ella Baynes was the final Wildcat with multiple goals with two. Makenzie Stritzinger scooped up nine draw controls while Taylor Culver added eight draws as well.

The Wildcats have three road games to close out their regular season, starting with CACC leading Georgian Court on Wednesday. The opening draw is set for 3:00 p.m. in Lakewood, New Jersey.
