After a successful first season in which she saw her team reach the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Semifinals in 2012, Jackie Trainer enters her sixth season at the helm of the Wildcats in 2017.

Trainer has been a part of the coaching staff at Wilmington for the past eight seasons, but was named the team's new head coach on August 16, 2011. In her first season in 2012, Trainer led the team to a 9-8 overall record, including a 6-6 performance in the CACC and a fourth seed in the CACC Tournament. She was named CACC Coach of the Year for her efforts.

In her first season, Trainer coached seven players to be named All-CACC, including three players on the first team, two on the second team and two to honorable mention. In all, she has coached 14 student-athletes that landed on a All-CACC squad, including Rebekah McCurry (First Team), Megan Keffer (Second Team), Ali Kern (Second Team), and Corinne Dries (Second Team) in 2014.  

Trainer graduated from Council Rock High School, where she was a two-sport standout in lacrosse and field hockey.

A 2009 graduate of Monmouth University, Coach Trainer was a four year member of the Hawks lacrosse team. In her four seasons, Trainer helped lead the squad to three regular season Northeast Conference titles (2005, 2006, 2008), along with one Northeast Conference Tournament Championships (2007). She also helped guide the Hawks to the first round of the NCAA National Tournament in 2007.

Prior to coming to Wilmington, she spent one season as a volunteer assistant coach at Monmouth, and also coached at St. James Elementary in Red Bank, NJ. Trainer has also spent time working at the T3 Summer Clinic and the Nike Lacrosse Camp. She is still an active player in this past summer was invited to play for USAAI in the Down Under Cup in Melbourne, Australia. Trainer was awarded team MVP in a game against the U-19 Australian National Team. She also traveled with the USAAI club program in 2008 and competed in the Berlin Open and Prague Cup.

Coach Trainer earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and History from Monmouth, and currently resides in Philadelphia.

She is the girls’ director for the Rippin’ Rope Lacrosse Club, and coaches the U-15 girls team.
