Essex-Arline Leads Wilmington Women’s Soccer’s Head Coach Jeff Zoyac to First Career Win, 3-0, at Bloomfield

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. - - Sophomore Carin Essex-Arline scored twice and added an assist to lead the Wilmington University women's soccer team to is first victory of the 2015 season, a 3-0 shutout at Bloomfield in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener on Saturday afternoon.

The sophomore's goal in the 30th minute broke the seal for the Wildcats (1-1) as it was their first goal of the 2015 season. The victory was also the first in the collegiate career of first year head coach Jeff Zoyac.

Essex-Arline put the finishing touches on a dominant first half, as the Wildcats out shot the Bears (2-1, 0-1 CACC), 6-1, and took more corner, 2-0, in the opening 45 minutes. Jackie Trafton threw the ball into Essex-Arline who was able to finish past goalkeeper Diana Vincentini 29:57 into the match.

Following the halftime break, Alexis Perry added to the Wildcats' lead with her first collegiate goal, scoring from outside the 18-yard box on the right side, ricocheting the shot off the far post and into he back of the net in the 63rd minute.

Essex-Arline put the contest away with her second goal of the game in the 81st minute, finishing off a corner from Rebecca Dolhansky to make it 3-0. The assist was the first collegiate point for the freshman Dolhansky.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kierstyn Williams made three saves, two of which came in the second half, to record her first shutout of the season.

The Wildcats remain in the CACC for their next two contests, as they head to Holy Family on Wednesday. The opening whistle is set for 4 p.m. in Philadelphia.
