LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. - - A penalty kick with just over 11 minutes left in regulation sent the Wilmington University women's soccer team to a 1-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory at Chestnut Hill on Tuesday afternoon on Victory Field #1.

The Wildcats (4-3, 4-1 CACC) put 19 shots on the board throughout the contest, 12 of which came in the second half, but couldn't find the back of the net in the first 78 minutes. A handball in the box proved to be the difference in the contest, as Loran Wyrough buried the opportunity with 11:40 remaining on the game clock.

Freshman Rebecca Dolhansky led the Wildcats attack with six shots, two of which were on goal. Sophomores Chandler Lages and Alexa Smalley added to the attack with three shots each, both with putting two of their shots on goal. The Wildcats outshot the Griffins (3-6, 1-5 CACC), 19-9, for the match.

Sophomore net minder Kierstyn Williams recorded four saves in goal for the Wildcats, with the most important coming with 10 minutes left in the first half. The Griffins had a chance on a cross into the box, but the sliding shot from the home team was saved by Williams to keep the contest scoreless.

The penalty kick goal was the first for the Wildcats on the season and the sixth of the year for Wyrough.

The Griffins' Kayla Reno recorded 11 stops for the home team. The Wildcats also earned more corners, 5-4, in the match.

The Wildcats will look for their third straight victory when they return to the WU Athletics Complex on Saturday. The Wildcats will take on Caldwell in front of a Homecoming crowd, being the second game of a Wilmington tripleheader starting at 12:30 p.m.
