Five Wildcat Student-Athletes Named to 2016 All-CACC Women’s Soccer Teams

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Five Wilmington University women's soccer student-athletes have been recognized by the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference head coaches for their outstanding play throughout the 2016 reason season, being named All-CACC, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

The Wildcats (10-7, 8-4 CACC) finished fifth in the CACC standings and begin the CACC Tournament with a First Round contest at No. 4 Philadelphia on Monday afternoon. Both the Wildcats and Rams were well represented on the All-Conference teams on Monday.

The Wildcats placed three student-athletes on the All-CACC First Team with Teigha Ward, Rebecca Dolhansky, and Melissa Gall. Loran Wyrough and Kierstyn Williams were voted to the All-CACC Second Team for their work as well.

Ward (Ilion, N.Y./Central Valley Academy) was named a First Team forward in her first season as a Wildcat, leading the team with 24 points. She tied the team lead with nine goals while adding six assists to finish second in the CACC with 24 points. He nine goals rank tied for third in the conference while her six assists rank fifth overall. She tied a program record with four goals in one game, doing so on October 15 against Concordia. Four of her nine goals have been game-winners.

Dolhansky (Blackwood, N.J./Triton Regional) is third on the team with 14 points but leads the conference with 10 assists on the season. She's started in all 17 games for the Wildcats this season, collecting at leas one point in nine of the games. She scored her first goal of the year at Post on October 1, proving to be the game-winner. She had a season high two assists against Millersville on October 20. It is the first time the sophomore has been named All-CACC in her career.

Gall (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) has anchored the defense this season starting in all 16 games she's played. The CACC's coaches have taken notice of her strong and aggressive style at the centerback position. She's come down offensively of late, scoring three of her four goals this season in the final five games of the season. She has four goals and one assist this year for nine points. It is the first time the redshirt junior has been named All-CACC in her career.

Wyrough (Hamilton, N.J./Hamilton HS West) is the only returning Wildcat to the All-CACC squad, earning Second Team this season after a First Team pick a season ago. She was also a Second team All-CACC selection as a redshirt freshman in 2014. She tied Ward with a team high nine goals this season, finishing in a tie for third in the conference. She's also added two assists for 20 points, ranking second on the team and sixth in the CACC. She also tied a program record with four goals in a single game this year, tying the mark with four tallies against Bloomfield on September 17. Three of her goals have gone for game-winners.

Williams (Middletown, Del./Appoquiniminck) earns Second Team as a goalkeeper, going 9-7 on the season with 2.5 shutouts. She's started 16 of the team's 17 games in goal, ranking sixth in the conference with a 1.48 goals-against average and allowing 22 goals on the year. She made a season high eight saves at LIU Post while also making seven stops against Bridgeport. She made a CACC season high six saves in a 3-1 win at Dominican on September 10. She earned shutouts against Roberts Wesleyan, Chestnut Hill, and at Felician.

Holy Family's Brianna Brock was named the CACC Player of the Year after leading the conference with 12 goals and 27 points. Her teammate Susie Blaney was named the CACC Rookie of the Year after starting and anchoring all 17 games on defense for the Tigers. Georgian Court's First Team defender Morgan LaDuca was named the CACC Defensive Player of the Year after anchoring the defense of the CACC Regular Season Champion Lions.

The league's sports information directors named Goldey-Beacom's manager Dan Frick the BSN Sports/CACC Coach of the Year after leading the Lightning to the No. 3 seed for the CACC Tournament. Bloomfield College rounds out the major award winners with earning the CACC Women's Soccer Sportsmanship award.
