Soccer and Golf Teams Close Out CACC Weekly Reports with Four Named Players of the Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - The Wilmington University athletics department was well represented in the final Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference soccer and golf Weekly Reports, as four student-athletes were named Players of the Week.

Men's soccer's Daniel Loyo was named the CACC Defensive Player of the Week and Vinny Tasca was named the CACC Goalkeeper of the Week for their play in the regular season finale against Jefferson last week.

Loyo (Caracas, Venezuela) helped anchor a defense that only allowed three shots from the CACC leading Rams. His defensive unit did not allow the Rams a single shot in the first half, and only allowed one shot during the pace of play. The other two came on a free kick and a penalty shot.

Tasca was the final line of defense in that 2-0 shutout win over Jefferson, making one stop in the game. But that one stop came on a penalty shot in the 88th minute to preserve the shutout and extend his consecutive scoreless streak to 392:58 minutes to end the regular season.

Women's soccer's Kierstyn Williams was named the CACC Goalkeeper of the Week for the third week in a row after blanking Jefferson, 1-0, in the final regular season contest. She made two stops in the win, extending her consecutive scoreless streak to 292:06.

Golf's Ryan Rucinski led the Wildcats in their final two fall tournaments last week, finishing second overall at the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate before ending the year with a 41stplace finish at the Miami Intercollegiate. Playing at the Waikoloa Beach Course in Waikoloa, Hawaii, Rucinski put together rounds of 68-74-68 at the par-70 course, finishing with a 210 (E). They then flew to Doral, Florida to take part in the Miami Intercollegiate hosted by Nova Southeastern where the junior went 76-70-76 for a 222 on Monday and Tuesday. He currently leads the team with a 73.63 average score through the fall season.

Men's soccer's Abdul Mansaray and women's soccer's Loran Wyrough were named to the Weekly Honor Roll for each of their game-winning goals against Jefferson.
