PLAYOFF PREVIEW: No. 2 Wilmington Heads to Lakewood with Final Four Teams

NEWARK, Del. - - The second seeded Wilmington University women's soccer team is making a return trip to the CACC Tournament Semifinal with a 2-1 overtime victory over seventh seeded Post on Tuesday afternoon. The Semifinals and Championship will be hosted at Georgian Court University in Lakewood N.J., starting on Friday afternoon.

The Wildcats earned the No. 2 seed with a 10-2 conference record, picking up 30 points. They square off against No. 3 Holy Family in the semifinal, after the Tigers defeated No. 6 Caldwell. The Tigers went 14-5 overall, 10-2 in the CACC, also with 30 points. The two teams met on September 12 at Holy Family, with the Wildcats winning, 4-0, to give Wilmington the head-to-head tiebreaker.

Scouting the No. 2 Wilmington University Wildcats:

The Wildcats earned their highest seed for the CACC Tournament since the 2012 season when they were the Regular Season Champions and won the CACC Tournament Championship.

The Wildcats had six student-athletes earn CACC All-Conference this year, led by Kierstyn Williams being named the Goalkeeper of the Year and First Team All-CACC. She was joined on the first team by redshirt senior forward Loran Wyrough and redshirt junior defender Melissa Gall. Graduate student midfielder Preslie Quaranta, junior midfielder Rebecca Dolhansky, and freshman defender Kiya Wilson were all named Second Team All-CACC.

Wyrough leads the CACC with 16 goals and is second overall with 37 points. Quaranta is tied for third in the CACC with seven assists while Dolhansky, Wyrough, and Laura van Steveninck ranks tied for ninth with five assists each. Williams is second in the CACC with a .802 save percentage and third in the league with a 129 goals against average.

As a team, the Wildcats are third in the league with 45 goals on the season and second overall with 132 points. They're second in the lead in only allowing 24 goals, carrying a 1.24 GAA into the semifinals.

In conference play only, the Wildcats are second in the league with 38 goals, averaging 3.17 goals a game. Defensively, they are third overall with a 0.92 GAA, allowing 11 goals in conference play.

Scouting the No. 3 Holy Family University Tigers:

The Tigers ended the regular season 3-1 in their last four matches, but fell to Georgian Court, 2-1, in the regular season finale, making them drop to the third seed for the CACC Tournament.

They defeated sixth seeded Caldwell in the Quarterfinals on Tuesday, getting a goal from two-time CACC Player of the Year Brianna Rock in the 75th minute. Holy Family led Caldwell, 10-7, in shot, with the corners tied at 4-4. Tigers' goalkeeper Emily Camp was called on to make five saves for the shutout while Caldwell keeper Daniela Lucca made six stops for the Cougars.

Rock leads the CACC with 41 points and is now tied with Wyrough for the CACC lead with 16 goals. She is also second in the CACC with nine assists and leads the conference with 90 shots.

Emily Camp is fourth in the league with 96 saves and a .793 save percentage. Her nine CACC wins and .824 save percentage in CACC play are tops in the league. She is sixth overall with a 1.56 GAA, but fourth in CACC play with a 1.09 GAA.

As a team, the Tigers are fourth in the league with 42 goals and third overall with 36 assists. They have allowed 29 goals overall, ranking fifth in the CACC with a 1.53 GAA.
