NEWARK, Del. – The Wilmington University Women's Soccer team hung tough throughout the first half of the non-conference matchup against the nationally No. 8 West Chester team, but were outscored in the second half, as West Chester took the 3-0 victory on Wednesday afternoon at the WU Athletic Complex.

In the hot summer heat, Wilmington (1-2) and West Chester (2-0-1) were both slow to start the first half as both teams were scoreless going into halftime.

It was not until the 53rd minute into the game that West Chester's Gabrielle White made a left footed pass from the left corner to her teammate Olivia Muha, who headed the ball into the back of the net to give the Rams the first goal of the game. Five minutes later, Nikki Caffey made it a 2-0 advantage in favor of West Chester on a penalty kick.

Cassidy McErlain and La'Dae Boykin both had shots on goal for the Wildcats but could not get past West Chester's McKenna Mullin.

Senior goalie Kate Tubo kept the Wildcats close in goal as she made 12 saves on 15 shots on goal for WilmU.

Up next, the Wildcats travel to Caldwell for their first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game of the season this Saturday, September 8.  The opening whistle is set for noon.
