Waterbury, Ct. – The Wilmington University women's soccer team dropped a tough one late in the game against Post, 3-2, in a battle at LaMoy Field Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles (4-6-2, 4-3-1 CACC) got on the board first in just the fifth minute of play when Samantha Brostek made a long pass to lead Katherine Garcia for a shot from 20 yards out to put the ball over goalkeeper Kate Tubo's reach.

The Wildcats (6-8, 5-4 CACC) tied things up in the 16th minute however, using a long pass from Krysta Memis in the right corner for teammate Lina Boussif to get a touch on and put it in the back of the net. Wilmington would have eight more shots after Boussif's goal to finish out the first half.

Charging the field in the second half, Rebecca Dolhansky was able to get a shot off from 20 yards out to give the Wildcats the 2-1 lead over the Eagles in the 51st minute. WilmU had a few more chances in the second half, including three corners, but could not connect.

The Wildcats kept the Eagles on their end of the field for most of the half, until the 86th minute when Gorgi Van Lienen used a free kick near the right corner to give Post their first goal of the second half. One minute after Post scored, Katherine Garcia made a leading pass to Sabrina Adamo who broke away from the Wildcat defense for a shot from 15 yards out to give the Eagles the 3-2 advantage over WilmU, with 3:16 left to play in regulation.

WilmU out-shot the Eagles, 16-8, but could not find the net on their five corner opportunities.

The Wildcats look to get back on the winning track Monday, when they take on Bridgeport in a non-conference matchup at the Complex. First whistle is set for 3:30 p.m.
