Women’s Soccer Has Seven Home Games, to Play Defending National Champions as 2019 Schedule is Announced

NEWARK, Del. - - Heading into his fifth season at the helm of the Wilmington University women's soccer, head coach Jeff Zoyac has scheduled five nonconference games on top of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference campaign as the 2019 schedule has been announced.

The Wildcats went 8-10-1 overall last season, earning the No. 6 seed in the CACC Tournament with a 7-4-1 record. Zoyac has led the Wildcats to the CACC Tournament in each of his four seasons, including a runner-up finish in 2017.

The first four games of 2019 will be against East Region competition, including three from the East Coast Conference and one from the Northeast 10 Conference. The 2019 season opens with a road test at New York Tech on Friday, September 6, followed by another road game at Adelphi on Sunday, under the lights in Garden City, New York.

The Wildcats play their first home game of the season on Sunday, September 15 against East Region participant Mercy before taking to the road to play the defending NCAA Division II National Champions in Bridgeport on Wednesday, September 18.

The run through the CACC begins on Saturday, September 21 when the Wildcats host Felician at the WU Athletics Complex. A trip to CACC Regular Season champions Georgian Court precedes Homecoming, as the Wildcats will host Dominican on Saturday, September 28 with a 12:30 p.m. opening whistle.

The team's final nonconference test is on Wednesday, October 1 when they visit Queens. The rest of the schedule will be against CACC opponents.

In October, the Wildcats will head to Holy Family, Bloomfield, Chestnut Hill, and Nyack, while hosting Post, Jefferson, defending CACC Tournament Champions Caldwell, and Goldey-Beacom. The regular season comes to a close on Saturday, November 2 at Concordia.

The team will look to be in the top eight at the end of the regular season and head back to the CACC Tournament for the eighth straight year. The CACC Tournament Quarterfinal will be played on Tuesday, November 12 with the semifinals and championship the following weekend in Waterbury, Connecticut.
