Wilmington Women’s Soccer Ties Defending CACC Regular Season Champions Georgian Court, 0-0, in Double Overtime Draw

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - - Facing the defending Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Regular Season Champions, the Wilmington University women's soccer team drew even with Georgian Court, 0-0, following double overtime on Wednesday afternoon on Investors Bank Field.

The Wildcats (2-3-1, 1-0-1 CACC) outshot the Lions (3-3-1, 1-0-1 CACC), 8-2, in the first half, but couldn't find the back of the net. The Lions ended up outshooting the Wildcats, 20-16, in the game, but neither team was able to put a goal on the board.

Georgian Court had the post opportunities in the second half, as Dana Fontana hit the crossbar in the 56th minute, Kaitlin Lister hit the post in the 69th minute, and Dana Fontana again hit the post in the 86th minute.

The Wildcats started the game with the first three shots of the contest, as a shot by Rockesha Dayes was blocked in the 7th minute, a header by Daryan Fennal was saved in the 8th minute and another header by Kasie Lambert was saved 20 seconds later.

The Lions also outshot the Wildcats, 5-1 in the overtime periods, including a 4-0 advantage in the first 10 minutes. Georgian Court also led, 11-5, in corner kick opportunities. Four of the Lions corner kicks came in the overtime period, but were cleared away each time.

Emily Camp made six saves in goal for the Wildcats to preserve the shutout, while her counterpart Alyssa Dias made five stops in 110 minutes to keep it scoreless.

The Wildcats return home for their next CACC contest, as they prepare for the 2019 Wilmington Homecoming festivities on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats welcome Dominican to the Complex with the opening whistle set for 12:30 p.m.
