NEWARK, Del. – Facing the top seeded team in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, the Wilmington University women's soccer team fell to Jefferson, 1-0 on Tuesday afternoon in a CACC matchup at the WU Athletics Complex.

It was a slow start for the Wildcats (4-7-1, 3-3-1 CACC) as Jefferson (7-3, 7-0 CACC) controlled the ball for the majority of the opening minutes of the game. By the ninth minute, the Rams had three consecutive corner kicks, but could not convert, as the Wildcats back line of defense held strong.

Wilmington's only corner kick of the game would come in the 22nd minute of play, but that would be their only chance before the half.

The Rams would open up the second half with two shots on goal, before a miss played ball inside the box gave them the first goal of the game. It wasn't until the 71st minute that WilmU got a shot on goal from Jessica Unsihuay. Unsihuay would have another chance a few minutes later, but was denied by the Rams' goalkeeper. Emily Navarrete gave the Wildcats their last chance on goal in the 89th minute, but would be just wide of the goal.

The Rams would have 13 shots to the Wildcats' four, while having seven corners total.

Jessica Unsihuay had two shots, as Emily Navarrete and Lina Boussif had one shot on goal. Emily Camp made nine saves on 10 shots on goal throughout the game.

Wilmington is back home again on Saturday afternoon as they take on Caldwell in a doubleheader with the men. Opening whistle is set for 12:00 p.m.
