ORANGEBURG, N.Y. - - A goal in the 80th minute sank the Wilmington University women's soccer team, 1-0, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest at Dominican on Friday afternoon at the Orangetown Soccer Complex.

The loss snaps a three-game winning streak for the Wildcats (8-4-2, 5-2-1 CACC), and ends a scoreless streak of over 363 minutes played. Dominican moves into a tie for first place with 21 points in the CACC, not at 8-5 overall, 7-2 in conference place.

Alexis Johnson put the first shot on goal for the Wildcats in the 32nd minute and the only other shot on goal in the half came from Samantha Emmi with six seconds left before the half. But both shots were stopped by Charger goalkeeper Lauren Drummond to send the game into halftime scoreless.

Rockesha Dayes put a shot on frame in the 62nd minute and Garcia Risoto had another shot saved in the 74th minute, but everything was staying out of the net for the Wildcats.

The Chargers found the back of the net in the 80th minute. A long ball over the top was run onto by Alissa Madura. She was able to slide around the Wilmington defender and keep moving forward into the box on the right side. Her shot to the far post found the side netting for the 1-0 lead 79:28 into the match.
