Ashante Wilson-Campbell Signs to Play for Wilmington Women’s Soccer in 2022

NEWARK, Del. - - The Wilmington University women's soccer head coach Jeff Zoyac announced the signing of Ashante Wilson-Campbell to the team for the upcoming 2022 season. Wilson-Campbell joins the Wildcats from the country of Trinidad and Tobago.

Jeff Zoyac and the Wildcats are looking to take the next step with the program after advancing to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament Championship match this past fall, finishing 12-5-3 overall in 2021.

Ashante Wilson-Campbell brings a wealth of experience to the Wildcats, most notably earning a spot on the Trinidad and Tobago U20 National Team to compete in the CONCACAF U20 Championship in February. She was also selected for the Trinidad and Tobago National U15 Team in 2018.

The forward scored 25 goals for the Signal Hill Secondary School during the Secondary School Football League (SSFL) in 2019. She was also listed in the Top 25 of National SSFL Players of the Year in 2018. Wilson-Campbell captained the team to victory in the Tobago Zone League and Intercol Competition in back-to-back year of 2018 and 2019. The team was also the National SSFL Big Five Champions and the National Intercol Competition runners-up in 2019.

The addition of Ashante Wilson-Campbell makes two Wildcats that joined their respective U20 National Teams, as current student-athlete Manuela Restrepo played three friendlies for the Colombian U20 National Team this spring as well.

The 2022 season gets underway with official competition on Friday, August 26 when the Wildcats welcome Bentley to the WU Athletics Complex to kickstart the season.
