NEWARK, Del. - - The Wilmington University women's soccer team earned three vital points in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference matchup versus Felician in a 3-1 victory this Saturday afternoon at the WU Athletics Complex.

It took most of the first half for both squads to settle into the match. The Wildcats earned their first opportunity at goal with a corner kick in the 30th minute. Gabbi Corchiani found Samantha Emmi for a header, and Emmi's attempt sailed high for the Wildcat's first shot in the match. Although the Falcons didn't record their first shot of the game until the 32nd minute, it was a good one off a free kick that was just high off the mark.

The Wildcats made the most of their second shot, as Gianna Bucs had the ball on the left side. Bucs saw Julia Yuhase cutting through the middle of the box, and her pass connected with Yuhase's feet. Yuhase's shot found the lower right corner to put the 'Cats up 1-0 in the 38th minute.

The Falcons came out for the second half finding the equalizer seven minutes into the half. The Falcons took advantage of intercepting a pass in the Wildcat's defensive third to tie the game up in the 52nd minute.

Samantha Emmi continued one of her specialties in converting free-kick opportunities. The Wildcats earned a free kick roughly 30-yards out. Emmi found the top-right corner of the net, putting it just under the crossbar, to put the Wildcats up 2-1 in the 62nd minute.

The Wildcats added an insurance goal five minutes later. Julia Yuhase won a second ball from a ball punted by the Felician's goalkeeper. Yuhase quickly found Larsen on the left side, and Larsen took care of the rest by scoring the 'Cats third and final goal.

The win puts the Wildcats at 4-7-4 and 2-4-3 in CACC play. The Wildcats currently sit in 9th amongst the CACC with nine points overall.

The Wildcats will travel to Philadelphia to play Holy Family on Tuesday, October 15. Kickoff is set for 6:30 PM.
