NEWARK, Del. - - The Wilmington University women's soccer team placed two student-athletes on the 2024 D2CCA All-East Region Women's Soccer First Team, as voted on by the East Region's sports information directors.
Wilmington seniors Alyssa Ruggeri (Wilmington, Del.) and Brianna Wons (Cherry Hill, N.J.) repeat as All-Region selections, both earning First Team honors this season.
Alyssa Ruggeri was named First Team D2CSC First Team All-Region for the third time in her career. The four-time First Team All-CACC midfielder missed five games to injury in 2025, including the final four of the year, but still finished second on the team and eighth in the CACC with 18 points. Her seven goals were also second on the team and 10th in the CACC. She scored two goals against No. 4 Adelphi and two more at Chestnut Hill. She had a season high two assists against St. Thomas Aquinas as well.
Brianna Wons moves up from the D2CCA East Region Second Team from a season ago, being a two-time All-Region performer in her two seasons as a Wildcat. The centerback anchored a defense and also moved forward to get into the attacking third when called upon. She tied the program record with four goals at Lincoln (Pa.), finishing the year with six goals and an assist. She had game-winning goals against Lincoln and Goldey-Beacom. The defense only allowed 20 goals this year, securing five shutouts. She also missed three games this year to injury, including the NCAA East Regional Tournament game against Franklin Pierce.
Georgian Court's Chelsea Lavezzo was named the East Region Player of the Year after scoring 17 goals and recording 36 points as a freshman.
