NEWARK, Del. - - The inaugural season for the Wilmington University women's tennis season is set to begin in September as head coach Brad Rose announces its fall season, including nine matches to prepare for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament.

Rose didn't back down in scheduling opponents in the sports' first season, starting the program off with a match against a team that advanced to the 2016 NCAA Division II Tournament Round of 16 last spring. The Wildcats opening contest is set for September 10 at East Region power NYIT.

Another nonconference battle is set for September 13 as the Wildcats travel to Bloomsburg for a night game. Bloomsburg advanced to the PSAC Tournament during the 2016 spring season, placing third of seven in the East Division.

The CACC portion of their schedule marks the rest of their first campaign, starting with crosstown rival Goldey-Beacom at the Delcastle Tennis Center on September 14. A trip to the University of the Sciences is set for September 20 before the final match of a five-match road trip at Chestnut Hill on September 24.

The program's first home match is set for September 28 against Caldwell, rounding out the first month of competition.

October started with a road game at Holy Family before the regular season rounds out with weekend matches against Philadelphia and Post. The Wildcats host the Rams on Saturday, October 8, with a final regular season match against Post on Sunday, October 9.

The top four teams in the CACC advance to the CACC Tournament to compete in the semifinals. The semifinal is set for Saturday, October 22 at Georgian Court University, while a champion will be crowned on Sunday, October 23 in Lakewood, N.J.
