PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - - The Wilmington University women's tennis team took four of the six singles matches to comeback and defeat Chestnut Hill, 5-4, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action on Saturday afternoon at the CHC Tennis Courts.

The Wildcats (4-2, 3-1 CACC) took a big step in the direction of reaching the CACC Tournament on Saturday, as Chestnut Hill (0-5, 0-5 CACC) was the 2015 CACC Tournament Runner Ups.

Begona Gomar and Laura Gil salvaged the double matches by coming back from a 6-1 deficit to win 9-7 at number one doubles. But Chestnut Hill went into the singles matches with a 2-1 lead by taking the number two and number three matchups.

Gomar and Gil carried the momentum into their singles matches as Gomar swept the number two singles match, 6-0 and 6-0. Gil had a little more difficulty at number three singles, but still swept her opponent, 6-3 and 6-3.

Chestnut Hill took first singles, 6-0 and 6-0, and the number four singles, 7-6 (9-7) and 6-4, despite a strong effort from Sabrina Blasi-Smith. Milica Knezevic tied the match, 4-4, at number five singles, defeating her opponent, 6-1 and 6-0.

The match came down to the number six singles and Lauren Kiger picked up her first singles victory of the year, 6-3 and 6-1, to win the match for the Wildcats.

The Wildcats now sit in third place in the CACC, trailing only Goldey-Beacom and Post. The Wildcats head out of conference for their next match, as they turn right around and head to Queens for an East Regional matchup on Sunday starting at 1:00 p.m.
