FLUSHING, N.Y. - - The Wilmington University women's tennis team had its three-match win streak snapped, 7-2, in an out of conference contest at Queens (N.Y.) on Sunday afternoon.

The Wildcats (4-3) fell behind early, capturing only one of the doubles matches before heading into the singles events. The team had an opportunity to win a pair of singles matches on Sunday, but Begona Gomar was the only one able to pull out the match.

Anushka Sathe and Milica Knezevic moved to 5-2 at number two doubles on the year with an 8-4 victory on Sunday at Queens. The Knights (3-0) were able to take a 2-1 lead after doubles, however, winning at number one (8-3) and number three (8-2).

Gomar moved her singles streak to four straight victories with a win at number two on Sunday, defeating Ruth Artaza Martin, 6-3 and 7-5. Laura Gil had her five-match win streak snapped at number three singles, despite winning the first set, 6-4. The Knights' Angelika Sobiecka battled back to win the second set, 6-3, before taking the match, 10-6, in the third and final set.

The Wildcats went 3-1 this week, including a perfect 3-0 mark in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. The team returns to CACC play on Wednesday when it hosts its first ever home meet in program history.
