SYOSSETT, N.Y. - - The Wilmington University women's tennis team will rely on its doubles team to make a deep run at the 2016 ITA East Regional Championships as the four remaining singles players were eliminated on day two of the event on Saturday.

Freshman Begona Gomar was the only Wildcat to advance in the bracket on Saturday, defeating the number-three qualifier from the Qualifying Bracket, 6-1 and 6-2. But the freshman ran into a familiar foe in NYIT's Karoline Pondusova in the second round, and the Bears' player got the best of Gomar for the second time this season, 6-2 and 7-5.

After advancing to the second round of the Qualifying Bracket on Friday, Milica Knezevic dropped her match on Saturday, 8-3, to Queens. Wilmington's number one singles Anushka Sathe fell in the first round of the Championship Bracket, 6-3 and 6-2, while Laura Gil also lost in the first round on Saturday, 7-5, 0-6, and 10-5, to a Southern New Hampshire player.

Again, the Wildcats will rely on their doubles teams to make a deep run through the ITA's when they return to the court on Sunday for Day Three.
