WILMINGTON, Del. - - The Wilmington University women's tennis team clinched the number two seed in the upcoming Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament with a 6-3 come-from-behind victory over Philadelphia on Wednesday afternoon at the Delcastle Tennis Center.

With one CACC match to play in the regular season, the Wildcats (6-3, 5-1 CACC) clinched the number two seed no matter the outcome of their next match on Thursday. The Wildcats hold the head-to-head tiebreaker over Post if they were to both finish 5-2 in the conference. Philadelphia (5-7, 2-4 CACC) is currently tied for the fifth and final playoff spot with one match remaining.

The Wildcats needed to comeback against the Rams on Wednesday, falling behind, 2-1, after the three doubles matches. Anushka Sathe and Milica Knezevic were able to win at number two doubles, 8-1, but both the Wildcats number one and number three doubles dropped their matches.

But the home team stormed back in the singles matches, earning victories in five of the six to steal the match, 6-3.

Leading 3-0 in the first set, Sathe earned the Wildcats first singles victory as the Ram's student-athlete needed to retire due to an injury. Both Begona Gomar and Laura Gil earned revenge after falling in doubles, taking number two singles, 6-1 and 6-2, and number three singles, 6-2 and 6-0, respectively.

Sabrina Blasi-Smith kept the momentum rolling with another sweep at number four singles, winning 6-1 and 6-3. Knezevic secured the victory at number five singles, blanking her opponent, 6-0 and 6-0, for the victory.

The Wildcats wrap up the fall regular season with another home game on Thursday, hosting Caldwell at the Delcastle Tennis Center. The first serve is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
