WILMINGTON, Del. -- The Wilmington University women's tennis team made short work of visiting Holy Family on Saturday afternoon at the Delcastle Tennis Center, blanking the Tigers by a 9-0 margin.  The win was the third in a row for the Wildcats, as they dropped just two games on the afternoon.

With the victory, Wilmington (5-5; 4-2 CACC) improved to .500 on the season, while Holy Family (0-6; 0-5 CACC) was left still searching for their first win of the year.

All three doubles pairings won their matches in 8-0 fashion, with the duo of Tess Paya and Jane Malygina first to retire their opponent.  Anushka Sahte and Begona Gomar were the next WilmU pair to finish, winning at second doubles, and Laura Gil and Andrea Ribalta rounded out the sweep at first doubles.

The Wildcats continued their dominant play into the singles matches.  Sophomore Begona Gomar won by identical 6-0 scores at number one singles.  Classmate Sabrina Blasi Smith sealed the team win with a point at number five singles, winning by scores of 6-0 and 6-0.  Junior Tess Paya, playing at number four singles, won 6-0 and 6-0 and classmate Anushka Sathe followed suit with a 6-0 and 6-0 victory of her own at number three singles.

Freshman Jane Malygina won at number two singles by scores of 6-1 and 6-0, and classmate Mallory Nolte earned her first collegiate win at number six singles, defeating her opponent by a 6-0 and 6-1 margin.

The Wildcats close out the non-conference portion of their schedule on Tuesday afternoon, when they play host to the Firebirds of the University of District of Columbia.  First serve is set for 2:00 PM at Delcastle.
