NEWARK, Del. - - The Wilmington University women's tennis team looks to take its final step towards a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship in it's third year as a program, as head coach Brad Rose announces the 2018 championship schedule.

In their second year as a program in 2017, the Wildcats advanced to the CACC Tournament Championship, narrowly falling to crosstown rival Goldey-Beacom, 5-3. They also narrowly missed the NCAA Regional Tournament in the spring, finishing 12-8 overall and 6-2 in the CACC.

This year, the Wildcats look to take it one step further in winning a CACC Championship and earn a spot in their first ever Regional Tournament. The trek to their goal begins on September 8.

The 2018 season begins with a road contest at East Region No. 3 NYIT on September 8. The Wildcats will then head to the ITA East Regional Tournament in Flushing Meadows to take part in the singles and doubles tournament from September 14-17. Once they return from the individual tournament, the CACC season takes off.

The Wildcats will begin their trek through the CACC with a road match at Chestnut Hill on September 18. Their home opener features Caldwell on the 22nd before hosting Post on Sunday the 23rd.

Although it's a road contest on the schedule, the Wildcats and East Region No. 1 Goldey-Beacom face off at Delcastle Rec Center on the 26th before the Wildcats host Jefferson for 2018 Homecoming festivities on the 29th.

Delcastle Tennis Center is going through a facelift this fall, which will put the Wildcats on the road for the month of October. They travel to East Region No. 4 Concordia, East Region No. 2 Queens, USciences, the District of Columbia, and Holy Family to round out the regular season.

The goal is to be one of the top six teams in the CACC at the end of the year, with the top two teams earning a bye into the CACC Tournament Semifinals. The final four teams will meet in the semifinals on Saturday, October 20 at Post University with a champion being crowned on Sunday, October 21.
