WILMINGTON, Del. - - The 2018 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference and home opener went according to plan for the Wilmington University women's tennis team, as the Wildcats swept Caldwell, 7-0, on Saturday afternoon at the Delcastle Tennis Center.

The Wildcats (1-1, 1-0 CACC) took all three doubles matches, despite only needing to win two of them for the single team point. They then took all six singles events as well on Saturday afternoon, taking the match, 7-0, over the Cougars.

In the doubles events, Begona Gomar and Anushka Sathe, as well as teammates Tess Paya and Sabrina Blasi-Smith did not allow a game by Caldwell, winning 6-0 at both second and third doubles, respectively.

Begona Gomar went on to sweep her singles event at No. 1, 6-0 and 6-0, while Laura Gil did the same, 6-0 and 6-0, at No. 3 singles. Tess Paya blanked her opponent at No. 4 singles, as did Andrea Ribalta at No. 5.

Anushka Sathe won her singles match at No. 2, 6-1 and 6-1, while Mallory Nolte rounded out the sweep with an impressive 6-0 and 6-1 victory at No. 6 singles.

The Wildcats have little time to celebrate the victory, as they turn around and play Post on Sunday afternoon at the Delcaste Tennis Center. The Wildcats and Eagles are scheduled to start serving at 1:00 p.m. in another CACC contest.
