BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - - The Wilmington University women's tennis team cleared a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference regular season hurdle on Tuesday, defeating Concordia, 5-2, on the road at the Meyers Tennis Center.

With the win, the Wildcats improved to 3-2 overall but 3-1 in the CACC and now can control their own fate to receive one of the two byes in the first round of the CACC Tournament. Concordia was ranked first in the East Region in the final ITA Regional Polls last season.

Senior Tess Paya and Junior Andrea Ribalta each won twice for the Wildcats, getting off to a great start with two wins in the doubles matches for the doubles' point.

Laura Gil and Ribalta were down 3-1 at No. 1 doubles, but fought back to take the match, 6-4. After Concordia had the match at No. 2 doubles, Tess Paya and Marie Rondot secured the point for Wilmington with a 6-3 victory at No. 3.

Ribalta made it a 2-0 day with a win at No. 6 singles, winning 6-3 and 6-0. Tess Paya also went 2-0 on the day, but needed to play more tennis to get it done. She won, 7-5 and 7-6, taking the point with a 7-3 second set tiebreak.
