NEWARK, Del. - - Wilmington University Director of Athletics Dr. Stefanie Whitby is pleased to announce Troy Donato as the next head coach of the women's tennis program, starting immediately.

"We are excited to welcome Troy to the WilmU Athletic Department family," Dr. Whitby said. "Troy brings years of experience as both a player, coach, and recruiter. He is familiar with the local tennis scene as well as talented international student-athletes. We look forward to watching the program develop under his leadership.

Donato is familiar with Wilmington University and the state of Delaware, becoming a Wildcat after two seasons as an assistant coach for Goldey-Beacom. Donato was also an assistant coach for both the men's and women's programs at West Chester University, and continues to be an Assistant Tennis Professional at the DuPont Country Club, where he's been for the past five years.

"I'm excited for the opportunity to join the Wildcat family as the head women's tennis coach," Donato expressed. "My vision for the program is to create a team where a number of individual student-athletes can come together to achieve championship results. I am excited to get started and I look forward to building a successful tennis program for many seasons to come."

The new head coach was a player himself, winning the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Player of the Year award in 2013 as a sophomore at Immaculata University. He transferred to West Chester to close out his final two years of his collegiate career, going 22-15 overall in singles competition.

Donato graduated from West Chester University with a bachelor's in exercise science in 2017, and recently earned his MBA in marketing management from Goldey-Beacom.
