Women’s Tennis Keeps Playoff Hopes Alive with 4-2 Victory at Caldwell

CALDWELL, N.J. - - The Wilmington University women's soccer team kept its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament hopes alive with a 4-2 victory at Caldwell on Tuesday at the CU Tennis Courts.

The Wildcats (3-7, 3-5 CACC) picked up the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and 2, and then sealed the victory with singles wins at No. 1, 2, and 3.

Laura Gil and Sabrina Blasi-Smith got things going with a 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles, and then Mallory Nolte and Andrea Ribalta sealed the doubles' point with a 6-1 victory at No. 2.

Laura Gil kept the momentum rolling with a 6-0 and 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles while Andrea Ribalta and Sabrina Blasi-Smith captured wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles with like scores of 6-1 and 6-0, respectively, earning the team the third and match sealing fourth point of the afternoon.

The win keeps the Wildcats in the playoff hunt with one match to play. They will face off against Chestnut Hill (5-6, 4-4 CACC) on Saturday at the Delcastle Tennis Center. A win for the Wildcats will ensure the sixth and final playoff spot in the upcoming CACC Tournament.
