Four Wildcats Earn Spots on 2021-22 CACC Women’s Tennis All-Academic Team

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Regular Season and Tournament Champion women's tennis team placed four student-athletes on the 2021-22 CACC All-Academic Team this year, as announced by the conference office.

To be eligible for the All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must meet the following criteria: a) minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 at the end of the immediate preceding term; b) minimum of two semesters enrolled as full-time student at member institution; c) student-athlete must be second-year student-athlete at member institution; and d) student-athlete must have been athletically eligible the season preceding the award and used a season of eligibility.

In all, 24 student-athletes from seven CACC institutions were named to the Women's Tennis All-Academic Team. The Wildcats were led by the only four-time honoree on the list in graduate student Begona Gomar. The Wildcats also have two-time honorees Valentina Ivankovic and Larize Nel on the list while Fenna Swann makes the team for the first time.

Thomas Jefferson University and University of the Sciences led the way with five honorees apiece. Jefferson was led by Anna Morgillo's perfect cumulative grade point average of 4.0, while Kirsten Wijnsema had USciences' top mark of 3.89.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

  • Eight of the honorees earned GPAs of 3.90 or higher.
  • Eleven (11) of the honorees made the CACC Women's Tennis All-Academic Team for the second time.
  • Three of the honorees made the All-Academic squad for the third time.
  • One honoree (Wilmington University's Begona Gomar) made the All-Academic team for the fourth time.
