Bistany and Briley Lead Wilmington Volleyball in Sweep of USciences

Allison Briley paced the Wilmington University volleyball team with 10 kills without committing an error in the team's 3-0 sweep of the University of the Sciences on Friday night in Bobby Morgan Arena.

Set scores for the match were 25-13, 25-19, and 25-15.

The win was the third in a row for the Wildcats (14-12, 10-3 CACC) and eight in their last nine matches overall. The Wildcats swept the season series from USciences (2-15, 1-13 CACC), also sweeping the Devils on September 24.

Briley's 10 kills were a team high but freshman Erin Bistany collected a .643 attack percentage by finishing with nine kills while not committing an error on 14 swings. Briley hit .526 for the match on 19 swings.

Shelby Henderson collected a match high 16 digs while Alex Siolos led the Wildcats with 19 assists and added three service aces in the victory.

Bistany also led the team at the net, collecting four block assists and the lone solo block of the night for the Wildcats. Hannah Karas chipped in with three block assists from the right side as well.

The Wildcats did not commit an error in the first set, hitting .333 while collecting 11 kills on 33 swings. The team hit .281 in the second set with 12 kills and .176 with 10 kills in the third and final game. The Wildcats hit .263 with only seven errors in the match.

The Wildcats continue Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action on Saturday afternoon as they return to the WU Athletics Complex against Post.

The Wildcats will play for Team Shelby in the fight against juvenile diabetes on Saturday by accepting donations at the door. The team will also participate in a Juvenile Diabetes Awareness Walk on Sunday morning. First service is scheduled for 12 p.m. on Saturday.
