Wilmington Volleyball Takes Down Defending CACC Champions Post, 3-1; Shelby Henderson Sets Program Digs Record

WATERBURY, Conn. - - The Wilmington University volleyball team hit its way to a 3-1 victory at Post, finishing the match with a team hitting percentage above .300 for the first time this season on Saturday at the Drubner Center.

Set scores for the match were 25-19, 19-25, 25-21, and 25-12.

During the match, Wildcats' (9-5, 3-1 CACC) senior Shelby Henderson recorded her 1,620th career dig, breaking the program's NCAA record. Henderson broke Meghan Frick's record of 1,619 career digs, set while playing from 2007-10.

The Wildcats only committed 11 errors during the match, five of which came in the match's first set. The Wildcats hit .270 in the first set, .321 in the second, .262 in the third, and .474 in the fourth and final set.

Junior Allison Briley led the attack for the Wildcats, collecting her fourth straight double-double with 15 kills and 13 digs. Senior Alex Siolos was the only other Wildcat to reach double digit kills, amassing 14 while adding six assists and seven digs. Senior Kaitlin DiGiacinto added nine kills and a team high 15 digs while adding six assists.

The Wildcats also out blocked the Eagles (10-5, 3-1 CACC), 7-5, earning four solo blocks while adding six block assists. Sophomore Eile Harris led the Wildcats with two solo blocks while freshman Miranda Shaw and DiGiacinto added one solo block each. Junior Megan Ward led the Wildcats with two block assists.

Wilmington's defense held the Eagles to a .194 attack percentage while also holding the reigning CACC Player of the Year, Skyler German to no kills and inly eight digs. Post's Hailey Griffin finished with a match high 16 kills while hitting .268.

The Wildcats also collected eight service aces, getting a match high from Ward. DiGiacinto and Siolos added two aces each while Shaw added a service ace as well.

The Wildcats remain in the CACC and on the road for one more contest, as they head to Holy Family on Tuesday night. The Wildcats take on the Tigers starting at 7:00 p.m. in Philadelphia.
