Georgian Court Sweeps Wilmington Volleyball, 3-0, in CACC South Division Action

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - - The Wilmington University volleyball team dropped its third straight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match on Tuesday night, falling at Georgian Court, 3-0, inside the Wellness Center.

Set scores for the match were 25-19, 25-21, and 25-22.

The Wildcats' (7-11, 4-5 CACC) middle hitters came to play on Tuesday, finishing with 20 of the team's 37 kills, but the Lions (10-12, 7-2 CACC) hit .300 for the match to take the first of the teams' two meeting this season.

Junior middle Eile Harris led the Wildcats with 12 kills while only committing only one error on the night, hitting an outstanding .688 for the match. Freshman middle Rebecca Rawlinson was second on the team with eight kills as well.

Harris also had a hand at the net defensively, helping on seven block assists for a match high total of 15.5 points on the night. Miranda Shaw dished out 15 assists while Jill Braunsberg added 14 helpers. Allison Briley led the way with nine digs on Tuesday night.

But the Wildcats couldn't stop the Lions' offense, as they hit .321 in the first set, .278 with 16 kills in the second, and .306 with 15 kills in the third set. The Wildcats hit .379 with 13 kills and only two errors in the second set, but were hindered by nine errors in the third and final game.

The Lions were led by Peggy Rosario's 11 kills and Kelsey Oliver's 39 assists. Kelsie Blue finished with three solo and five block assists while Janelli Torres finished with 10 digs.

The Wildcats return to the WU Athletics Complex on Friday when they host another CACC South Division foe in Holy Family. The first serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
