NEWARK, Del. - - Holy Family pulled away from the Wilmington University volleyball team late in each set, giving them a three-game sweep, 3-0, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference South Division action on Friday night at the WU Athletics Complex.

Set scores for the night were 25-19, 25-23, and 25-20.

Each set was tightly contested through the first three quarters of the game before the Tigers (9-11, 6-4 CACC) used late-game runs to steal the momentum. The Wildcats (7-12, 4-6 CACC) lost their fourth straight CACC contest, third straight by the sweep.

With the first set tied at 19-19, the Tigers went on a 6-0 run to take the first set, 25-19. The Tigers collected four kills and an ace during the run, moving ahead 1-0 in the match.

Despite the late run, the Wildcats came out of the gates in the second set and scored seven straight to take a 7-1 lead. But the Tigers responded with four straight en route to a 6-1 run. The Wildcats scored three straight to tie the set, 17-17, before continuing the run to take a 21-19 lead on a Rebecca Rawlinson termination. Holy Family retaliated with a 4-1 run of their own before a service error tied the set at 23-23. But the Wildcats couldn't capitalize as the Tigers scored the final two points of the set to take a 2-0 lead at 25-23.

The Wildcats again came out strong in the third set, using an 8-3 spurt to grab a 12-8 lead. But a Wildcat service error led to a 4-0 run by the Tigers, giving them the lead, 15-14. Allison Briley put down a kill before MIrans Shaw served an ace to give the Wildcats the lead once more, 16-15. Another 4-0 run gave the Tigers a 19-16 lead, this time being a lead they wouldn't relinquish. An Eile Harris kill beought the home team within 21-19, but the Tigers rattled off the next three points to reach match point. They would end the match at 25-20.

The CACC leader in kills per set was at it again for the Tigers, as Chase Wassel collected 16 kills to lead the match.

Briley led the Wildcats with 11 kills on 35 swings, only committing three errors for a .229 attack percentage. She added 12 digs for a double-double. Harris ended with seven kills while hitting .250, adding three block assists for 8.5 points in the match. Addalyn Flores finished with a match high 19 digs while Jill Braunsberg led the Wildcats with 17 assists.

The Wildcats will look to get back in the win column on Saturday when they take to the road for a CACC cross-divisional matchup at Bloomfield. The first serve is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
