Volleyball finishes 4-0 at the Wildcat Regional Invitational with Wins over SCSU and Franklin Pierce Saturday

NEWARK, Del. – The Wilmington University volleyball team finished the weekend on a high note as they went 2-0 Saturday afternoon to complete the four-match sweep at the Wildcat Regional Invitational, defeating Southern Connecticut State and Franklin Pierce Saturday afternoon.

Set scores for the match against Southern Connecticut State were 25-21, 25-22, and 25-19.

Set scores for the match against Franklin Pierce were 25-18, 23-25, 25-18, and 25-17.

Match vs. Southern Connecticut State  

The Wildcats (7-6) came out strong in their first match of the day against Southern Connecticut State (6-6), winning 3-0. Despite the Owls' 45 kills to Wilmington's 30, WilmU had a better hitting percentage of .157 to Southern Conn. State's .142.

Mandy Behiels led the front line with 10 kills for a hitting percentage of .211. Bailey Andrews was right behind her with seven kills and six digs. Jenna Brown led the back row with 19 digs. Setter, Jill Braunsberg dished out 14 assists and 11 digs, as Angel Oliver had three block solos, along with five block assists at the net.

Miranda Shaw also added 10 assists and five digs for the Wildcats.

WilmU out-blocked the Owl's 11-2 on the match.

Match vs. Franklin Pierce

Wilmington continued their win-streak to finish out the Wildcat Regional Invitational, defeating Franklin Pierce 3-1.

Junior Jill Braunsberg reached her 1,000th assist in the match, making her the seventh player in program history to reach 1,000 assists in a career at Wilmington. She had 20 assists and 11 digs to give her eight double-doubles on the season. Miranda Shaw also led the way for the Wildcats with 24 assists and 12 digs for her third double-double of the season.

Mandy Behiels led the front line with 16 kills, as Bailey Andrews had 13, and Rebecca Rawlinson added 12 kills and five block assists.

The Wildcats out-blocked their opponent 11-3 and had a hitting percentage of .262 to the Raven's .143.

Next Up:

The Wildcats return to Central Athletic Collegiate Conference play when they take on Jefferson at home Tuesday night for a 7 p.m. start time at the WU Athletic Complex.
