Philadelphia, Pa. – The Wilmington University women's volleyball team could not hang on as Holy Family swept the Wildcats, 3-0, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference matchup Tuesday night at the Campus Center Gym.

Set scores for the match were 25-22, 25-7, and 25-15.

First place in the South Division, Holy Family (23-5, 15-1 CACC) out-hit Wilmington (17-11, 11-5 CACC) 48-15.

The Wildcats had the early lead in the first set, but Holy Family was too much, as they came back to tie the game at 16 apiece.  The next eight points would be a back-and-forth action between both teams as it was locked again at 20-20. Holy Family would score two more points from Chase Wessel to put the Tigers up 22-20 before WilmU called a timeout. Wilmington held off three set points before the Tigers took the first set, 25-22.

Holy Family took an early second set lead going on an eight-point run to lead 18-4, but the Wildcats could not find their way back to drop the set, 25-7. Holy Family had a hitting percentage of .455 in the set.

The Wildcats were able to hang on early in the third set as Mandy Behiels tied the game, 8-8, on a kill, but Holy Family's next four points gave them the 12-8 lead to slowly close the door for the 25-15 win.

Mandy Behiels had seven kills for the Wildcats as Angel Oliver and Jill Braunsberg recorded three block assists at the net.

The Wildcats were out-dug by Holy Family, 60-34, despite out-blocking the Tigers, 9-3.

The Wildcats look to get back on track this Saturday against Concordia in their final home game of the regular season for senior day. Opening whistle is set for 1:00 p.m. at the WU Athletics Complex.
